A Cow's Lick Yields a Cowlick

     A cowlick is a section of hair that stands straight up or lies at an angle at odds with the style in which the rest of an individual's hair is worn. Cowlicks appear when the growth direction of the hair forms a spiral pattern. The term "cowlick" originates from the domestic bovine's habit of licking its young, which results in a swirling pattern in the hair. The most common site of a human cowlick is in the crown, but they can show up anywhere. They also sometimes appear in the front and back of the head.
      The term cowlick dates from the late 16th century, when Richard Haydocke used it in his translation of Lomazzo: "The lockes or plaine feakes of haire called cow-lickes, are made turning upwards."

The Preferred Bird Turd

     How could a bird turd be preferred?! If it holds the image of Jesus Christ, that's how. Jim Lawry of Brooklyn, Ohio, tells NewsNet5 that he's "amazed" by the image of Jesus Christ that he, family and friends see in a bird poop plopped on his windshield. He told the station he thinks it's a sign.
      In a YouTube video posted Monday, Lawry marveled at how it looked like a regular old dropping from the outside of the car -- but from the inside it looked, well, divine. The video has since been deleted.
     "It's like a perfect portrait," he says in the video. "It's like Jesus staring right at me."
     "A lot of skeptics too, people looking to make fun of or degrade my Christianity, or compare bird poop to religion," Lawry explained in an update email to NewsChannel5. "I have no idea why this happened, but it did. Every person who has seen the image for themselves can't believe it."
     The northeast Ohio man will auction off the piece to raise money for his favorite charity.
