Yoda Pig - No,You Are!

 What is wrong with Yoda?
In the pictures above, you are looking not at the head of Yoda, but rather the wrinkled forehead and ears of a two-year old pot belly hog named Ramona Flowers.  Not that the color needed altering to convince you, but when added to a body of this Jedi Master, one easily sees why news agencies the world over are covering this Remarkable Resemblance!

Owner Luis Bojorquez said: ‘It was my wife’s cousin that first noticed her head after she took a few pictures of Ramona.
’It looks just like Yoda’s face and I was really surprised that I had never noticed it before.

‘I’m not so sure she would like the comparison as we’ve always thought of her as a spoilt princess and if she found out it might make her have one of her infamous temper tantrums.

‘We called her Ramona Flowers because she reminds us of the character from the Scott Pilgrim graphic novels and has a feisty but fun nature, just like in the comics.

‘She attracts a lot of attention from neighbours and as she roams around freely and she is often brought back home by the local kid in the area.’

Galaxies that Resemble the Letter "I"

Object ID # : 587741821065101540
The Replica Report goes galactic this week looking at 4 galaxies whose shapes Resemble the letter 'I'. A galaxy is a massive, gravitationally bound system consisting of stars, stellar remnants, and a interstellar medium of gas and dust, and, it is hypothesized, an important but poorly understood component called dark matter. Examples of galaxies range from dwarfs with as few as ten million stars to giants with a hundred trillion stars, each orbiting their galaxy's own center of mass.
Galaxies contain varying numbers of star systems, star clusters and types of interstellar clouds. In between these objects is a sparse interstellar medium of gas, dust, and cosmic rays. Observational data suggests that super massive black holes may exist at the center of many, if not all, galaxies. They are thought to be the primary driver of active galactic nuclei found at the core of some galaxies. The Milky Way galaxy appears to harbor at least one such object.
Galaxies have been historically categorized according to their apparent shape; usually referred to as their visual morphology. A common form is the elliptical galaxy, which has an ellipse-shaped light profile. Spiral galaxies are disk-shaped with dusty, curving arms. Those with irregular or unusual shapes are known as irregular galaxies and typically originate from disruption by the gravitational pull of neighboring galaxies and are what make the alphabet series possible. Such interactions between nearby galaxies, which may ultimately result in a merging, sometimes induce significantly increased incidents of star formation leading to starburst galaxies. Smaller galaxies lacking a coherent structure are referred to as irregular galaxies.

Extinct Cockroach Bears Resemblance to a Jawa

Arizona State University scientists of the International Institute for Species Exploration recently released their annual list of  Top 10 New Species 2013 discovered in 2012, and among the group is a luminescent South American cockroach whose otherworldliness is less hyperbole and actually quite specific. The glowing roach is a spitting image of a Jawa, a fictional creature from the Star Wars science fiction media franchise (as if you didn't know what a Jawa was).

But in the time since the species was discovered and its existence formally published last July, the Tatooine twin may have actually become extinct. In 2010 after a volcano in Ecuador erupted, which served as L. luckae's only known habitat, no specimens have been found.

Lucihormetica luckae is a species of giant cockroach (Blaberidae). It's back carapace features two large and one small spots or divots inhabited by bacteria that glow when exposed to fluorescent light. The evolutionary purpose of this bioluminescence may be to mimic the appearance of the toxic click beetle (Pyrophorus) that emits light at the same wavelength, most likely making it the first known species to use bioluminescence for defensive mimicry.

Due to a Resemblance, JC Penney's 'Hitler Tea Kettle' Sold Out in Hours

Michael Graves-Designed Stainless Steel Tea Kettle Resembles Hitler
A JCPenney billboard featuring an exclusive Michael Graves-designed tea kettle has been turning the heads of motorists driving along the 405 near Culver City and the kettle has even sold out at JC Penney.com.

The attention is not so much for the teapot's "cool-touch handle" or its "space-saving design" but rather for its uncanny Resemblance to Adolf Hitler - its handle, cap and spout, Resembling the Führer’s do, mustache and arm outstretched in salute - with some even seeing a tie.
The odd coincidence was first posted by Reddit user "Wrestles4Food" with the title,"This Kettle looks like Hitler!" and has since been covered by news agencies the world over.

The fact that the kettle's profile looks eerily like the Fuhrer's mien caused a stir online Tuesday, forcing the company to respond in a Tweet that read "jcpenney @Telegraph "Certainly unintended. If we'd designed the kettle to look like something, we would've gone w/a snowman: http://t.co/KFWVI1Csgz About one day ago via jcpenney .

Things that look Hitler have become a popular web meme - with the genre perhaps defined by the house in Swansea that bears a Resemblance to the Nazi Fuhrer.  The slanted roof was said to resemble the Hitler fringe, the door lintel was the moustache and the small top windows were seen as the dictator’s piercing eyes.  The tweet was first posted by Extractionist Charli Dickenson in 2011, a 22 year old youth worker, who Recognized the bizarre similarity as she drove past one day.

All of this was preceded by “Kitler” a nickname used to describe white cats with black markings under their noses that resemble German dictator Adolf Hitler’s toothbrush mustache and on their foreheads Resembling hair parted on it's side. Cats with these coats were popularized in June 2006 by the single topic site Cats that Look Like Hitler, which was created by Dutch journalist & Extractionist Koos Plegt, who set up a blog to showcase such photos after seeing a cat with this coat pattern in his hometown of Zwolle, Holland.

Trump's Toupee Found in a Forest?

Flannel Moth

Megalopyge opercularis would have been covered by the Replica Report, even without its recent meme status, considering some of its common names such as southern flannel moth, pussy moth, puss caterpillar, and tree asp.  It is in its larval form that the Resemblance to a pussy cat becomes apparent whereas the flannel reference (flannel is a soft woven fabric, of various fineness) points to its adult stage (even the wings are furry).  But this week, the insect is getting news coverage because of social media hype where many Extractionists have Recognized its Resemblance to Donald Trump's hair!

The creature was spotted in the Amazon by friends Jeff Cremer, 34 and Phil Torres, 27, who run photography tours from Posada Amazonas, a 30 bed rainforest lodge in Peru.

Mr. Cremer said, "It's actually a flannel moth caterpillar, they're really rare, I've seen this type of caterpillar before but never one of this colour."
"We put the picture on our Twitter and Facebook page and immediately people started comparing it to Donald Trump."
Cremer continues, "We didn't see the resemblance when we first saw the caterpillar but looking at the photo it's certainly similar to his hair."
"It was pretty funny, people went mad for the photo comparing it to his toupee."

The caterpillar’s “hair” actually consists of setae, which are long, fine silky appendages that, in this case, can cause serious skin irritations. If one attempts to pet this insect, they will get a handful of venom, released when the setae poke into skin. Just as a bee sting, the injuries can be painful but, for most, not life threatening.

Concorde Takes Flight Again

On this day that we look to the skies for a solar eclipse, The Replica Report looks up - at the clouds!  Extractionist Roy Peckham of Pontypridd, South Wales is the reason why this time as he has photographed a wonderful Replica.

The Concorde was the first turbojet-powered airliner and was considered a marvel of engineering before it was retired in 2003, so, how could it be taking flight again in 2013?  Well it wasn't, it was the ghost of Concorde - a cloud that formed over the countryside in the shape of the grounded passenger jet.

Mr. Peckham, 66, spotted the plane-shaped cloud as it moved through the evening sky and said the cloud was coming from the direction of the Brecon Beacons.

He said: 'I saw the cloud and as it approached it became more and more defined.
'It looked like Concorde was flying across the countryside and about to land in Pontypridd.'

This story was first published by Sara Smyth on 5 May 2013.

Juggling Jesus

The latest Extractionist art to be covered internationally is coming out of Europe.  UK resident Martin Andrews said an accidental spill of fabric softener on a T-shirt resulted in the now-viral photograph Metro reported last Wednesday.

“I showed my mates at work the picture, and one of them said, ‘I’ve heard you can find comfort in Jesus, but you’ve found Jesus in Comfort,” Andrews said, Comfort being the name-brand of fabric softener.

Andrews, the "creator" of the fabric softener Jesus stain, tweeted a photo of the T-shirt. He told Metro that finding the fabric softener Jesus is really a matter of perspective.

"When the T-shirt's the right way up it doesn't really look like anything... but when you look at it the other way up it's really Him," he said.

Here at the Replica Report we Recognize the Resemblance the stain has to a juggler!

Angels Hovering Near the Sun

Benjamin Creme, a British artist and long-time student of esoteric philosophy, has become the latest Extractionist to be covered by news agencies across the Nation.

In recent months, two photographs were recorded by NASA cameras of an anomaly near the sun. Mr. Creme has Recognized that these anomalies Resemble angels.

Benjamin Creme, co-editor of Share International magazine, says that while many people thought the images were UFOs, "our information is that it is an 'angel', or 'deva' as they are known in the East. The angelic or deva evolution runs parallel to that of the human and they can vary in size from tiny to colossal. This 'angel' was filmed moving near the sun and both photographs are of the same 'angel'. Our information is that it is gigantic: about half the size of the Earth."

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1922, Benjamin Creme began studying art at an early age, developing into an accomplished painter in the modernist style.  He befriended and collaborated with many of the leading figures of the time in British art, music and literature. His paintings have been exhibited in a number of prestigious galleries.

Here at the Replica Report, we tend to Recognize a Resemblance to a kind of Santa Fe graphic depiction of a bird in the anomalies - meaning we all agree on the Resemblance to wings!

Rock Man Has A Face Of Satisfaction

Stac Levenish or Stac Leibhinis (sometimes simply called "Levenish/Leibhinis") is a sea stack in the St. Kilda archipelago in Scotland that Resembles a man relaxing and enjoying a dip in the ocean. Lying about 3 miles off Village Bay on Hirta, it is part of the rim of an extinct volcano that includes Dùn, Ruaival and Mullach Sgar.

The stack is 203 feet high. Its north cliff appears to have the profile of a face, visible when traveling to St. Kilda from the east. The skerry of Na Bodhan lies to the north east.

A stack is a geological land form consisting of a steep and often vertical column or columns of rock in the sea near a coast, isolated by erosion. Stacks are formed through processes of coastal geomorphology, which are entirely natural. Time, wind, and water are the only factors involved in the formation of a stack. They are formed when part of a headland is eroded by hydraulic action, which is the force of the sea or water crashing against the rock. The force of the water weakens cracks in the headland, causing them to later collapse, forming free-standing stacks and even a small island. Stacks can provide important nesting locations for seabirds, and many are popular for rock climbing - not to mention almost all stacks are named after some object the Resemble.

Extra! Extra! The Replica Report is the first to Recognize that not only is there a Resemblance to a face in the side view of the Stac, but also a Resemblance to a profile face in an aerial view of Stac Levenish.

Orange You A Virgin?

FARMINGTON, ME -- Desmond Duguay dotes Dots! So back in February, Desmond and his wife, Amy, went to Rite Aid in Auburn for snacks - one of which was a box of Dots.  Duguay said he ate a few of the gummy candies, felt the funny piece in his hand and showed it to his wife. On a whim, they nicknamed it “The Holy Dot” and listed it on eBay.

From eBay : "So I was eating a box of DOTS today and I found none other than the Virgin Mary herself just chillin' with her other DOT disciples. Just last week my wife and I had our first child and I am convinced that a higher power has stepped in and literally dumped a second miracle in our lap in the form of this Gummy Virgin Mary. A miracle that will no doubt equate to millions of dollars and our child's college tuition bought and paid for. I know that this Gummy Virgin Mary is near priceless and that if I held onto it, it would only appreciate in value. Having just had my beautiful son though I need to be thinking about his future and must let this miracle gummy go and put all proceeds into my son's college fund. This is a 100% authentic Gummy Virgin Mary, that may or may not have mystical and spiritual powers. All I can say is that since I have had this gummy in my possession I have not contracted any viruses, sexually transmitted diseases, or illnesses that I know of and I feel amazing.. Is this due to the Gummy Virgin Mary? I think so."

As Replica Report readers know, a Resemblance is even more valuable if it was made unintentionally or inadvertently.  We believe it is authentic but many websites are claiming that the gummy candy was made intentionally and are crying foul.

In a post titled, “A virgin dot? We think not!”, CorporateMal.com skeptically compared the Duguay’s photo to a small Virgin Mary candy mold sold on eBay by A World of Moulds in the United Kingdom.

     From that website:

“Now there is no way to know for sure what the real story is behind this piece of piousness. However, we can all agree that as long as there are people like the Duguays and a candy like Dots, America will always be the undisputed leader in delicious delusional devotions.”

The write-up was good for a laugh, but it wasn’t so, Duguay said.  He claims his is no doctored Dot.   “I bought the box unopened,” he said. “I have no idea if or how it could have been placed there . . . We did not modify the Dot one bit.”   His best guess: It’s a defect that quality control missed.
After two initial days of furious activity that saw 42 bids, the auction had stalled by Monday at $215, with three days left to go.  Finally, on March 8th it sold for $305.

Penis Fish

Urechis unicinctus - The Penis Fish
The Echiura, or spoon worms, are a small group of marine animals.  Urechis unicinctus is a species of marine spoon worm widely referred to as the "Penis Fish" (very easy to see the Resemblance reference here).  While the Urechis caupo is often called the "Fat Innkeeper" worm (not so easy to figure out the Resemblance reference here).

Urechis caupo lives in burrows in sand and mud. It gets the name "fat innkeeper worm" because the tunnels it creates often contain other animals.  In fact, at least four other animals are known to live with the Fat Innkeeper Worm in its tunnel home (get the Resemblance to an Inn Keeper?).  Frequent guests of the Worm include a fish called a goby, a small pea crab, a clam and a scale worm. They feed on food that the Innkeeper Worm leaves behind.

The Fat Innkeeper Worms are common in the sandy mud of the Elkhorn Slough. They live in a U-shaped tunnel or burrow and have a unique method of eating. It secretes a slime net, which serves to trap small food particles. The worm circulates water through the tunnel, trapping food in the slime net. When the mucus net becomes loaded with food, it is loosened from its attachments and the entire net with its burden of food is swallowed by the worm.

Fat Innkeeper Worms are eaten by bat rays, leopard sharks and otters, who suck or dig them out of their burrows.

The Penis Fish in the other hand is commonly eaten raw with salt and sesame oil in Korea and in parts of Japan.  In Chinese cuisine the worm is stir-fried with vegetables, or dried and powdered to be used as an umami enhancer. In particular, the worm is considered an important ingredient in Shandong cuisine and is used in numerous recipes.  It is also used for fishing bait.

The Penis Fish is so popular it even has it's own Facebook Page : https://www.facebook.com/pages/Urechis-unicinctus/133153840057293?sk=wall

Shroud of Turin, Meet Cloth of Saugus

SAUGUS, Mass. -- Brian Krantz is the latest Extractionist to be covered by news agencies all over the nation because of a Replica he Recognized and Extracted!

Krantz used the drop cloth four years ago to spray paint his shutters; he used it 50 or 60 more times before he noticed something for the first time.   “I had it folded up like this and I threw it on the floor and this is what I saw first,” Krantz said as he held up the cloth.

“My heart went a hundred million miles an hour. I couldn't breath, I felt like I was hyperventilating” said Brian Krantz.

From a distance, it's a paint splattered drop cloth. But take a closer look… “A crown or a halo. Two eyes. Looks like a mustache, nose, there’s the chin, jaw line.” said Krantz.  He goes on to Extract an extended right arm with, and here's where it gets good, the Shroud hanging from the arm, a background, doorway and tomb.  So the Cloth of Saugus depicts the Shroud of Turin!

The fact that this drop cloth has so many Resemblances that complete a whole scene along with it's creation having been inadvertent or unintentional makes this a special Replica.

To Brian Krantz, the image is perfectly clear.  “I can't deny this. This is what it is. It looks like Jesus Christ,” Krantz said. (We here at the Replica Report tend to think it looks a Costa Rican villager with a hat)

Like any good Extractionist, Krantz said he plans to frame the image and keep it in his home.

Cross & Crown Cracker

National news agencies are featuring the art of Extractionist Patti Burke.  She Recognized the Resemblances of Cross and Crown on a Goldfish cracker during Holy Week recently and Extracted the Resemblances by pointing them out and titling them - thus giving them meaning.

“When I picked this one up, I knew he was special,” the Melbourne, FL woman said of her Holy Week discovery. “He had a cross on him, and he had a crown circle up by his head. Something I’ve never seen before out of all the Goldfish I’ve eaten.”

Burke's art was even featured on Easter Sunday, when her pastor, D. Scott Worth, began talking about fish as a symbol of Christianity in front of the congregation of Presbyterian Church of the Good Shepherd in Melbourne.  “I think it’s a sign. I think it points to, I would hesitate to call it a miracle, but I think it points to THE miracle, which is Jesus Christ defeated death. And that’s what Easter is all about.”

Burke hasn’t yet decided what to do with the cracker, so she carries it in an earring box padded by gauze. She tried to find out how the cracker — which is normally only printed with a smile — ended up with the cross and two circles. At first, she thought she’d won a special promotion.

“I called Pepperidge Farm and said, ‘Hey, do you have some special promotion going on, I think I’ve got the lucky fish,’” she said. “They called me back and said there’s no way this could have been printed like that in the factory. ... They said it sounds like something miraculous happened and we don’t know how it happened.”

Watch the video here: http://bcove.me/edamgavh

The Replica Report would like to add that there appears to be a third Resemblance - somewhat of a gonopodium!! (a modified anal fin (it looks rather like a thin rod) that allows male fish of the families Anablepidae and Poeciliidae to briefly hook into the vent of a female fish to deposit sperm.
This fin is normally held back and the male fish turns it down and forward just before mating)
